Terms of service.
On this page
These terms are the agreement between you and Optracy when you use optracy.com and its API. They are written to be read. If something is unclear, email [email protected] before you rely on it.
1. What Optracy does
Optracy turns raster images into vector files and print files. You upload an image, edit its color groups, and download SVG, PDF, EPS or a 300 dpi PNG. The processing API does the same for images your own software sends.
Using the website is free up to the daily limits on the Pricing page. Downloading files needs a free account. The monthly plan and API credits are paid.
2. Your account
- Give a real email address you can read. We use it to answer you, and a password reset link only goes to that address.
- Keep your password and API keys to yourself. You're responsible for what happens with your account and keys. If you think someone else has them, change your password or revoke the key on your account page, and tell us.
- One person per account.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time from your account's email address. The Privacy policy says what we remove and what we must keep.
3. Your images and your rights
- You keep your rights. Uploading an image doesn't give Optracy ownership of it or of the files made from it.
- You need the right to use what you upload. Only upload images you own, made, or have permission to use, and only use the files in ways that permission allows. That includes printing and selling them.
- The permission you give us. To make your files, we need to store and process your image. You allow us to do that, and only that, for as long as the image is kept: up to 24 hours from the upload. We don't publish your images or use them for anything else.
- Links are private but shareable. Each upload gets a link with a random code. Anyone with the link can open the image and its files until it's deleted, so share it only with people you trust.
- Rights complaints. If you believe an image on Optracy infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the link. We remove infringing images and may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
4. What you may not do
Don't use Optracy to:
- upload or make files of anything illegal, including images that infringe someone else's copyright or trademark, sexual content involving minors, or content that threatens or harasses people;
- get around the daily limits, for example with many accounts, scripts against the website, or shared links used as a file host;
- overload, probe or attack the service, or try to reach other people's images, accounts or data;
- copy, take apart or resell the service or its results as a service of your own, except through the API under these terms;
- send viruses or anything meant to harm the service or its users.
We may refuse an image, limit an account, or close it when it breaks these rules.
5. Free use and daily limits
Processing and editing are free within daily limits that keep the service fair: 20 images a day without an account (shared by one network), 40 with a free account and 200 with the monthly plan, plus a separate limit for the sample images. The limits renew once a day. The Pricing page shows the current numbers, and we may change them.
The web tool processes one image at a time for each account. Images are kept for up to 24 hours, and sometimes deleted sooner when the server needs room. Keep your own copy of anything you download.
6. Free downloads
A free account can download 5 images a day. One image counts once, the first time a finished file of it is sent to you; every other format, size or re-download of the same image is free while the image is kept. Unused downloads don't carry over. Files that fail to build aren't counted.
7. The monthly plan
- The monthly plan gives one calendar month of unlimited downloads on the website, for $6.99 (US dollars), and a higher daily processing limit. It doesn't apply to the API.
- To get it, email [email protected] from your account's address. We reply with payment details. We switch the month on by hand once the payment arrives, and your account page shows its end date.
- The month runs from the day we switch it on to the same day of the next month. If you ask for another month before the current one ends, the new month starts where the current one stops.
- It doesn't renew by itself. We never charge you again without a new request from you. When the month ends, your account goes back to the free limits.
8. API credits
- API credits are bought in advance. The price is agreed by email before you pay, and credits are added to your account by hand once the payment arrives.
- One credit pays for one image that succeeds through the API, with one file. A job that fails, that you cancel, or that a server restart interrupts costs nothing.
- Credits don't expire. They are for the API only and can't be swapped for website downloads or the monthly plan.
- Files made by the API are kept for 24 hours after the job succeeds. The limits on jobs at a time and requests a minute are in the API documentation; we may change them with notice there.
- Keep your API keys on your server. Jobs sent with your key are charged to your account.
9. Refunds
- Monthly plan: a month that has been switched on is not refunded, whatever part of it is used.
- API credits: unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Email [email protected] from your account's address. Credits already used, or held for a job that is still running, don't count as unused.
- Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
10. Changes to the service and these terms
Optracy is a young service and it will change. We may add, change or remove features and limits. When we change these terms in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and say so on the What's new page before the change takes effect. A month or credits you already paid for keep the terms you bought them under until they're used up.
11. No warranty
We work hard to make good files, and every file is checked before it reaches you. Still, Optracy is provided as it is and as available. We don't promise that it will always be online, that every image will process, or that a file will be right for a particular printer, platform or product. Check your files before you print or sell them.
12. Limits of liability
As far as the law allows, Optracy isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost sales, lost profits or reprinted orders.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using Optracy at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
